Learning Classical Tibetan (English – Italian) – 5/6 April 2014

90 percent of Buddhist texts in Tibetan are not yet translated! If we learn classical Tibetan we can learn more about the Buddhadharma in general, and we will be able to deeply understand our meditation practices and buddhist philosophy. Tibetan is the international Tibetan Buddhist language like Latin was for centuries in the Catholic church. We wish to continue to use Tibetan in AHMC now and in the future to maintain the accuracy of our practices.

• We can become familiar with our practice texts like Guru Puja and others, no longer having to remain satisfied with merely reciting prayers in an unknown language. We will also be able to do the visualisations while reciting the text in Tibetan.

• We can prepare more thoroughly for retreats — knowing the Tibetan of practice texts and commentaries allows us to fully benefit from this experience.
